"The New Bugaboo" is the first episode of Season 2 of Harvey Beaks.
Synopsis[]
Harvey thinks his family is big enough, so in a moment of panic, he gives his baby sister away!
Plot[]
The episode starts with Harvey in his bedroom talking to his egg baby sister. He then sings a song to the egg about him hoping his sister will hatch soon so he can finally meet her and be a big brother. Harvey's parents come into his bedroom grabbing their son's old baby stuff to prepare for their daughter's birth making Harvey realize that once his sister is born, he won't be the only child anymore. Later at the playground, Harvey talks to Dade wondering what it's like to have a new sibling. Dade explains to Harvey that having a sibling is not all it's cracked up to be since his parents forget him due to having many children. Dade pulls out a carrot which is devoured by his younger siblings to express that it's his "parents love" being taken away by his siblings making Harvey fear he'll lose his parent's love as well to his sister once she's born.
Harvey runs home and grabs his sister to find her a new family who will take care of her. As Harvey walks around the woods trying to find a new home for his baby sister, he finds Jeremy who is having a picnic. Harvey decides to leave his sister with Jeremy thinking he'll be a suitable father. After Harvey leaves, Jeremy finds himself sitting on the egg (believing he laid it himself) and becomes excited about becoming a parent. Harvey watches Jeremy from a distance believing he did the right thing.
Meanwhile, Jeremy goes to Randl's Rentls to shop for baby supplies. While Randl assists Jeremy in grabbing supplies, Jeremy starts doubting raising a child and becomes overwhelmed with the responsibilities so he ends up leaving the egg with Meryl.
Harvey later meets with the twins cheerfully telling them that he gave his sister away to Jeremy. Fee, shocked at what she just heard angrily smacks Harvey for his actions and tells him that there's nothing more beautiful than relationship shared between siblings. Harvey realizes his mistakes and runs off to find Jeremy.
Harvey confronts Jeremy about the egg but the latter tries to dodge the question by trying to distract Harvey and run off which ends up failing. Jeremy eventually cracks under pressure and confesses that he wasn't ready for parenthood so he left the egg at Randl's store much to Harvey's dismay.
Back at the shop, Randl tells Harvey that he just sold the egg as he already has to deal with his mother which leaves Harvey on a wild goose chase around LittleBark asking everyone if they seen his sister. He eventually runs into Cool Bug and Pretty Bug who take Harvey to a hill where Pooker is seen leaving the egg next to Easy who is sitting on a chair at top of the hill and reading a book. As Harvey goes to retrieve his baby sister, Easy spots the egg and picks it up only to selflessly kick it down the hill. Harvey runs after the egg trying to catch his sister but unfortunately, the egg rolls off the edge a cliff and into a valley of egg-shaped identical looking rocks much to Harvey's horror. Harvey desperately goes through the rocks to search for his sister and uses a marker to not confuse them for ones he's checked already.
After many hours of searching, nighttime falls and Harvey, now battered continues looking for his sister feeling he has let her down and gloomly reprises part of the song he sung to her earlier. After finishing singing, Harvey hears a kicking noise in the distance and realizes his sister is nearby. Harvey continues singing his song to listen for his sister's egg kicks and eventually finds the egg under a pile of rocks happily reunited with it.
Later, Harvey arrives home with his sister and is greeted by his parents who are unaware of what he has gone through. Suddenly, Harvey feels the egg move and it starts hatching, shocking the family. With the youngest Beaks about to be born, Irving grabs random objects to deliver the baby himself but is reminded by Miriam that they've already packed the duffel bag for the hospital weeks prior. At the LittleBark Grove Hospital. Harvey waits in the hallway with Fee and Foo nervous about meeting his sister. Irving finally brings the kids into the room to meet Harvey's newborn baby sister, Michelle who is fast asleep in Miriam's arms. As the twins admire Michelle, they are escorted out of the room by Irving when Foo attempts to cough on the newborn bird. Harvey happily greets Michelle and is proud about being a big brother where Irving adds on about Michelle being a "sweet beautiful angel". Michelle soon wakes up giving an evil stare as ominous music plays in the background, hinting her mischievous personality.
